Heroes: Random Realisation

I was just watching a "Behind the scenes" thing on Heroes, and it says how Mohinder is supposed to be the character the audience identifies with, because he's the ordinary guy.

Well actually, no. My (and I'm sure the majority of genre fandom) viewpoint character is the one who is living my fantasy.

Go Hiro!!!!

I don't watch the show, but I'm glad you've posted again.

Even without watching the show, I know from every review and discussion I've ever seen about it that this is the case. But apparently series creator Tim Kring doesn't know a thing about the genre, so it wouldn't be surprising he'd miss this.

We’re supposed to identify with Mohinder?

I’m sorry, but my father’s research indicates something alarmingly different.

Of course this was coming from the actor who plays Mohinder, but it does fit with other stuff I've heard about the creators of the show.

And traditionally the "everyman" figure is the viewpoint character. It's just that Mohinder is a lot less of an everyman than Hiro.

I would have thought that Ando was the everyman character.

Go Ando!
