Challengers of the Bleeding Obvious
One thing you notice when reading a lot of Challengers of the Unknown at one time is a peculiar style to the covers. On almost every cover you get a speech balloon where one of the Challs feels the need to comment on whatever dramatic predicament they are in.

Ha! it's too bad, really, because seeing them without captions, I'm thinking that they would be pretty cool covers by themselves. With captions, though? retarded.
I'm reading the Showcase at the moment, at more than half way through and there are three plots: Noble scientist builds something and criminal assitant steals it and puts it to perfidious uses; Aliens cause a problem; Someone recovers magical devices of an ancient civiliasation, havoc ensues. I'm also puzzled that the finish on the covers is so weak compared to the interiors.
It's more fun if you mix them all up.
